hi guys! it's halloween! and it's haul time! and i was suuuuper bad this month..(or this year..?)... so yeah........ ~Lindsay-chan ^.~

there's also another haul item that i didn't mention in this post..because i already posted about it.. i bought a deluxe original beauty box because she was having a friends and family discount, and i've been wanting one in my life for like two or more years now... and we can just call it a "yay i finally got a job offer!!!!!!"-present to myself..even though i ordered it the day before i got my job offer. but i didn't have to tell ya that..! ^______^

also, in other good news, i found out that my raise at work went through. yuuusssssh! and they're in the works for me to work 25 hours next semester too, i just have to wait to pay the fee bill before that gets processed.

anyway, let's get onto the haul!!!!
  • sephora: sephora favorites superstars set (i'm planning on gifting some of the items in the set..), benefit they're real push-up liner
  • cvs: maybelline matte lipstick in touch of spice -- i'm in love with this lipstick now. it was on my lips for a bit (it set and dried, maybe?) and ate dinner and it was still there, flawless, several hours later. what? where has this product been and why didn't they make it sooner?!

benefit they're real push-up liner; urban decay sin eyeshadow (swatched dry), smashbox bb cream in light, nars orgasm blush,
stila liquid eyeliner in intense black, anastasia beverly hills brow wiz in dark brown

w00t! graduation is approaching!

hey guys! it's that time!! i got to schedule for my final semester..again! hahaha. thankfully it wasn't quite as much of a rush this time. i'm only taking two classes..again, one that is mandatory for the entire business school (management), and ... communication studies. haha.

the management class is a capstone class..thus the mandatory-ness...and it's group projects and stuff. lame. and the cmst class i picked is working in groups also. yushhhhh. i have successfully avoided public speaking yet again! i've only almost needed to take public speaking..pretty much every semester following my very first.

so tentatively, my spring schedule is:
mgt 3830 tth 1030-12 bec
cmst 2061 tth 130-3 coates
..and work will probably be mostly mwf's. they'll probably let me do 25 hours again--something only allowed during your final semester.. and i'm going to see if ibm will let me start at the end of may/beginning of june. so we'll see! i'm super excited about it though; 3 years and another degree later: i've finally found myself a full-time job!

life update.

hi guys! sorry for the lack of a post this week. i'll definitely have the walmart beauty box up this weekend when i get a chance (i just got it!). this week has been crazy ridiculous. i had three papers to write for two classes (2 short ones, and a 7pg single spaced-er!), meet multiple times with my various groups for all my classes, tutored my friend in C#--which i never learned and don't even know the syntax...., and i have a test tomorrow that i'm neglecting to study for because i'm soooooo not about studying right now.

in a nutshell for right now: basically ibm is doing super huge recruiting at our school because they're in the process of building a new facility here and they want 800 jobs filled by 2017. needless to say i've got very good chances. i've already done a technical interview which went alright but since it's entry level they're not expecting a whole lot aside from the basics, and there'll be like 100 hours of training..i think i'll be ok. and i'll have an in-person interview sometime soon. but for the technical interview, i got nearly all the SQL questions correct, but my programming answers were meh. my programming style is more of doing rather than knowing what the actual concepts mean...so i can do, but i have trouble explaining what terminology means.... but someone i met at the event tonight works in the position that i applied for and she has a liberal arts degree...so with training and all, i think i'll be good! i'll have to let you know how it goes sometime later.

tonight was an invitation-only event, where i had to email my resume to someone and they filtered who got to go. and i went there, with no prior knowledge of what the hell was going to happen..turns out a lot of people in the parking lot on the way to the restaurant were bewildered too. it turned out to be amazing. it wound up being a women-only event and they made us name tags and gave us goodie bags with a nice notebook and pen. and it was just a mingling thing. go join conversations with various ibm people and ask any questions and hear fun stories from them. then they had a few promo videos about this new location. (a-k & t: do you remember ian? he was in one of the videos!) it was super awesome and i enjoyed myself. the restaurant was downtown--so i'd never heard of it--but it was a wine and tapas type place. they had the bar open for us which was cool and the food was really good. i was thoroughly surprised with how the ibm people were. they were so cool and fun. super bubbly and genuinely love their jobs. which is not something you'd think when you imagine IT people. hahaha. another lady was funny, she told us that ibm "stole" her from a competitor, accenture, which is where my aunt works. another was hilarious too, (shortly after the party started) she's drinking wine and saying all she had was a salad for the day and she was starving, waiting for the buffet-line to open. hahaha. a third lady told us that there was a vacant desk at their office, so it's now the designated tea station and another lady bakes cupcakes all the time for everyone. like i said, it was a pretty cool experience with real people, and it wasn't something i would have expected from such a large company, especially IT people.

also, i applied for a full time position where i currently work..for the third time. last time i applied, there were three of us vying for two positions. needless to say, i didn't make it and one of the people was hired and pregnant at the time... then she decided to not come back after her maternity leave ended. ~.~ like really..really?! not that she's a bad person or anything, she's really smart and nice, but it's just one of those annoying hindsight feelings.

anyway wish me luck as i go through all this job stuff--i graduate in may..and for my finance test. hahahaha. later. ~Lindsay-chan ^.~

a new direction

moshi moshi minasan! so we came up with an alternative if i don't get a job anytime soon.

basically i have until tax day to go register with lsu as a student again. the only problem is that i'd be a part of the last block who gets to schedule...no more seniority...boo...for now. the major that we picked, ISDS (information systems & decision science), is part of the business school, and i have 39 (of 120) hours toward it already--basically all the electives (so second semester scheduling won't be bad). and given that all works out, i will finish in about 5-6 semesters (and paul's fellowship is for up to 4 years starting this fall). not too bad for an actual technical degree (IT) that is somewhat more useful than a psychology bs... lol.

anyway, i miss my job. and they miss me, and they love me enough that i can have my job back--which super awesome. like i said before, not getting the full time lsu job wasn't the end of the world and 我很不喜一个人在哪里,我觉得他是笨和盲: 我的头发不是红色--是黑色,你不可能解雇我!so whatev. don't care. with the isds degree, i will be a lot more knowledgeable and can go elsewhere pending on paul--and, by then, i'll be classified as an analyst II. this also gives me room to study for and earn some networking certifications. so the current plan--again if i don't get a full time job anytime soon--is to schedule a class for summer intersession (and some in the fall of course) and be able to work full time over the summer..well, with what's left after the wedding/honeymoon.

i'm real excited about this plan. the only thing that bums me out is the fact that i won't have anything to do for the next four months................................... i mean, aside from wedding stuff, which is almost done. just need to book a florist and the groom's cake. but for real people, it's been two months now of me not having a job and that's NO GOOD. i get bored, surf the net, play video games, order/buy stuff---and of course i'm sending out my resume all the while too, lol, don't get me wrong. but i'm seriously going to go out of my mind if i can't find anything else to occupy my time. oh yes! and i've been baking bread so that we don't have to buy any. but that's like it, aside from sleeping. >.> i mean, i know i should be enjoying all this time off, but i'm not. i'm going crazy. boredom, cabin fever, everything. @_@ anyway, so those are my current thoughts, concerns, etc. later. ~Lin-chan ^.~

another haul; hides in a corner

another shopping haul... I, LINDSAY, HEREBY SWEAR TO MY READERS THAT, FROM THIS POINT FORWARD, I SHALL ONLY SPEND MONEY ON FOOD AND GASOLINE UNTIL I GET A JOB! ...which could very well be next week with the help of grandma. interview on monday~!

went to target, rite aid, sally beauty, and best buy. mom's paying me back (an early gift), but best buy is having a buy 1 get one free on all sims 3 pc games til...tomorrow. yush! got pets and ambitions (not pictured). ~L-c ^.~
got three more lip butters and one last eyeshadow tattoo. now i have all of the shades of these two product lines that i want. i actually need to exchange the sugar plum for another, the twisty dispenser thing somehow broke in the less than a minute i used it, so it now just sits there--won't go up or down... >.> i really like these three colors, of the 7 of these that i got, peach parfait and sugar frosting are the closest to my natural lip color. yay! and brown sugar looks almost like a dupe of delovely on me. the pomegranate punk eyeshadow is actually more of a burnt reddish color rather than straight brown, like it looks here.

edit: by the way, rite aid..which i always forget they still exist, had all shades of the lip butters in stock.

haven't swatched these yet. found the finger paints flakey that i wanted!!! motley has blue/green flecks. sally had a bunch of nail polish on sale and clearance, so that's what's up with that one. the other three at the top are china glaze, the tiny ones were $1. and some of you may have not heard of sinful colors (the brand), but that's the bottom right one, and orly on the bottom left.

life..

so i worked on invitations, writing peoples' names on the inner envelopes and when i went to put the outer envelopes through my printer, it ate them!!! yes, the return address was to be printed on the FRONT. needless to say, i quit at that point. we'll see how it goes on mom's printer. >.> (i love domo, he's on my lappy cover and my car >w<)

i've still been applying for jobs. today i sent my resume for a position in NO via grandma. i think i'm going to start looking around the NO area more and reel out applications to those, in addition to BR. worst case, after we get married, i can stay home during the week and be with teh paul on weekends or something if it comes to that..... we'll see. ~L-c ^.~

graduation's around the corner, but a job??

alrighty, i think it's time for another post... so, since my last post: my supervisor at work got married; i've applied to a couple jobs via the staffing company, was interviewed, and not chosen; took another history exam and am waiting for them to post scores. then this weekend, a job opened up in the building i'm working in now, which i applied for and am very excited about. wish me luck! >w< paul still hasn't been given a "yay" or "nay" for the phd fellowship he applied to, but his plan b is with his instructor's company in BR. we're really hoping to find out about that soon. as for wedding stuff, we've pretty much finalized the family wedding list and plan on ordering the invites sometime soon. like i said last time, we'll ask you for your addresses in due time and please don't think we hate you if we are unable to invite you. as it is, the list of anticipated guests jumped back up close to 300, when we were trying to keep it down to 250. >.> well that's about all i've got for you guys right now. later. ~L-c ^.~

mini schedule:
12/1: presentation for night class
12/6: night class final via computer-based
12/10: psyc history final TT_TT a saturday?! 为什么?!12/16: graduation

no changes in the wedding to-do's.

edit: oh yes, i forgot about the sushi class! lsu has leisure classes that you can sign up for, so sharon and i took the sushi class. yum~!

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

ok so most of you guys failed to notice my last post, i'm not sure if it was because of my lack of description or what. in short: the link is to an anime face maker where you can customize it however you want with the options available. here's the link again.

so back to news, daily life, etc. i've been looking around at jobs and stuff and am now registered with a staffing company which will hopefully find something for me. i applied as an office assistant and i did pretty well on their tests. got 100% on data entry (keypad use and accuracy), 75 gwam (the average person types 30-40), 90% on ms excel, ~80% on ms word. if you want to test your gwam speed, i used this as a sort of practice/tester. it's not completely accurate because, well..american english is a little different from british english, but your score'll be pretty close. so the past several days, i've been gathering people's mailing addresses for graduation announcements and wedding invites--and by people, i mean paul's and my family. we're planning on doing two separate mailings (family & bridal party, then friends)--so don't freak out that i didn't ask you for your address yet. and like i said before, we can't invite everyone either. so, i apologize on that aspect too. but i'm trying to gather all this information to finish figuring out numbers so we can order invites, response cards, and stamps. if you guys didn't know, the price of stamps is going up in january, so buy forever stamps now! =P going to a wedding this weekend and super excited. hopefully, while there, paul and i can take a nice picture together..we haven't taken a picture together in a while..his graduation?? well i think that's about it as far as what's up lately. later. ~L-c ^.~
