april 2018 ipsy bag!

hey guys! my april IPSY BAG* (theme: social butterfly) arrived this week and i decided to go ahead and get this post up because i'm only keeping one item.... ~Lindsay

1. meech and mia shadow in copper -- this is a really pretty loose shadow. i'll need some more time to actually test it on the eyes, but swatching it is really nice. i think i'd consider this more of a golden orange than a rusty red-orange kind of color though
• repurchase: nah
2. delectable by cake beauty triple moisture body lotion in coconut & cream -- i'm not a fan of the scent or feel of this lotion. the scent is sort of your typical beachy coconutty type of scent, but not..? i guess that's where the cream comes in? either way, using a bit of this on my hand, i didn't like how watery it felt, and it took a bit to fully sink in. my hand does feel relatively softer but not enough for me to keep this and spread this all over.
• repurchase: no
3. trust fund beauty that liquid glo tho liquid highlighter -- this is not a liquid product. as you can see how much i had to squeeze the tube, this is more of a cream consistency. i meant to re-swatch it for the photo, but this is more of a micro shimmer than like a lit from within glow. i think this product is more of a personal taste kind of thing, as this is really pretty from a distance, but i just don't want to deal with it being a liquid/cream product and the shimmer particles.
• repurchase: no
4. h2o+ beauty oasis hydrating treatment -- this is a blue gel facial moisturizer, and it has a slight scent to it. i can't really place it, but it has a water-like "fresh" scent to it. while the scent isn't terribly strong, i am not a fan enough of to slather over my face. i'm also not up for trying new things on my face until it stops freaking out.
• repurchase: no
5. nyx cosmetics soft matte lip cream in istanbul -- i'm going to pass this one along. i had a few of these way back and never really used them regularly. i can't remember really how i felt about them, but i want to say they had a vanilla type scent, and only lasted on the lips maybe a few hours or so.
• repurchase: nah
6. butterfly ipsy bag -- i really like this bag design. it's a printed pleather with rose gold accents, and the back is like a darkened lavender type color.

june 2017 ipsy bag!

hi all! my june IPSY BAG* (theme: volume up)  arrived yesterday, and i'm taking some time to get some posts up! ~Lin-chan ^.~

here's my impressions:

1. luna cosmetics eyeshadow in jace -- this is such a pretty peachy transition shade. i don't typically gravitate toward these types of shades, but this is my kinda thing!
• likelihood to repurchase: maybe
2. makeup forever aqua XL eye pencil in m10 (black) -- how many of these things will i get in my lifetime?! this makes at least 5, and i'm not that crazy about this liner or the not-XL version. i didn't swatch this one because i'm going to give it away and i probably have a swatch somewhere on here.. but black is black.....? yeah.
• likelihood to repurchase: no
3. trustfund beauty nail polish in game changer -- this is neon coral. omg. this is going to get passed along because it's not really me.
• likelihood to repurchase: no this shade
4. dr. lili fan probiotic recovery cream -- what is this?! i'm not a fan of this baby powder floral scent, and i am especially not putting this all over my face. texture-wise, this is a very light cream that absorbs quickly. this is going to get passed along.
• likelihood to repurchase: no
5. nyx whipped lip & cheek souffle in plush -- at first, i wasn't sure about this shade because it looked super pink on me, but from a distance it's not too bad. this has a really interesting texture. it's like creamy then powdery..kinda? it probably won't last super long on the lips, but i'll have to try it a bit longer and see. and as far as blush goes...i haven't really been into cream blushes lately, so i probably won't.

6. lips ipsy bag -- in person, this bag's actually cuter than i thought. it's a nice canvas on the outside.

february 2017 ipsy bag!

hi all! i'm suuuuper late, but here's my february IPSY BAG* (theme: #ipsy much love)! woot-woot!  ~Lin-chan ^.~

here's my impressions:

1. nyx butter lipstick in ripe berry (full size, ret. $5.99) -- i really like this formula a lot, it's very moisturizing and comfortable. this is a really pretty shade too.
• likelihood to repurchase: probably not, too many lippies in the stash...
2. luna by luna cosmetics highlighter in calypso (.3g--full size???, ret. $23 for ??) -- this is a really pretty highlight, and i can't wait to test it out!
• likelihood to repurchase: nah, i have a ton already..
3. biobelle sheet masks in #iwoke up like this & #stay gorgeous (1 mask each, ret. $4.99 each) -- gotta try these out some time!
• likelihood to repurchase: undecided
4. elizabeth mott whatup beaches matte bronzer (.7g--micro size, ret. $25 for 8g [$2.19]) -- what is with these guys and the microscopic bronzers.. i mean, you really can only use these as eyeshadows because of the size. anyway, this is pretty close to benefit hoola in color, but not the same pigmentation as far as i could tell. and for the price, just get hoola.
• likelihood to repurchase: no
5. luxie beauty rose gold blush brush 514 (full size, ret. $18) -- this is a pretty fluffy brush, not as dense as i usually like, but i'll give it a go.
• likelihood to repurchase: probably not this brush, but definitely others!
6. denim and orange ipsy bag -- it's cute.. probably will pass it along for someone else to use.

• i skipped on the discount codes this time, for the sake of time to make this post. those codes take a lot of work to get, and really even if you're not an ipsy subscriber, as long as you have an ipsy account, you should have access to them. in the future, i may not keep recording all of these because they take a lot of time to collect on here.

december 2016 ipsy bag!

hi guys! my december IPSY BAG* (theme: carpe pm) arrived so fast, contrary to last month's bag. i literally received the tracking email two hours before my mailman delivered it. wut. anyway, i'm happy it got here and i get to try some new things!  ~Lin-chan ^.~

here's my impressions:

1. royal and langnickel moda angle shader brush (full size?, ret. $7.99 for 2 brush set [$4]) -- i don't typically like using this style of brush, but considering the quality of this brand and the other brushes i have from their moda line, i'll give it a try!
• likelihood to repurchase: probably not this brush, but others
2. marc anthony deep hydrating treatment (1.69oz--mini, ret. $2.99) -- hooray for deep conditioners! try all of them. the scent is interesting, kind of argan oil-y, but powdery..ish? i'm not sure. but i can't wait to try this!
• likelihood to repurchase: maybe
3. nyx prismatic eyeshadow in bedroom eyes (1.2g--full size, ret. $6) -- i'm passing this guy along, seeing as though i bought this shade just after they came out! i have a few other colors, and i really like the formula and pigmentation, no complaints!
• likelihood to repurchase: not this shade
4. tarte tartiest glossy lip paint in wcw (1ml--mini, ret. $20 for 6ml [$3.33]) -- there's a few things i really like about this gloss, and there's one major issue that i don't want to be bothered with. the bad: this color will need babysitting, i feel like it will very easily get outside of your lip lines. and it will transfer, but it's a gloss and that's what happens. the good: the color and pigmentation are awesome. i like how balmy and not sticky it feels, and blotting it away, there is a light stain left behind.
• likelihood to repurchase: not this formula
5. aurora intensively precise eyeliner blackberry (1ml--full size, ret. $12) -- i'm not really sure who came up with the color names for these..but this is black. when i think of blackberries, i tend to think of a more purply blue type of shade..not black. but that's beside the point. this seems to be a pretty nice liner, goes on a shiny dark black. i wish the felt tip on this was designed a bit differently though. the way that i apply my liner, i need the tip to be longer, but the part that holds the tip is so much chunkier than the tip itself, it loses some of the length that i'd rather have. i think if the plastic holder was more tapered, it be easier for me to use. on another note, the tip is pretty stiff and relatively easy to make a nice wing.

6. shiny burgundy fuzzy ipsy bag -- this is a cute bag for gifting, or carrying around as a mini clutch.

march 2016 ipsy bag

hi guys! guess what i've got?! my march IPSY BAG*! (theme: hello spring) sorry this post is a little late, they delivered it saturday at my apartment and i didn't get it until last night..then i had to go to work today. ugh! haha, just kidding. ~Lin-chan ^.~

here's my impressions:

1. marc anthony nourishing argan oil of morocco 3 day smooth perfect blow dry cream (1.69oz--mini, ret. $8.99 for 6.76oz [$2.25]) -- i don't typically blow dry my hair, but i am still interested in these kinds of things. this does have an argan oil type scent to it, but it's light.
• likelihood to repurchase: probably not
2. NoTS 28 remedy balancing toner (.3oz--mini, ret. $59.99 for 3.4oz [$5.29]) -- this is very interesting. it's a clear gel, almost like a slightly more solid version of hand sanitizer that dries pretty quickly. it does have a slight alcohol type scent to it as well.
• likelihood to repurchase: probably not
3. pixi beauty beauty blush duo in rose gold (.16oz--full size?, ret. $18) -- so, ipsy's sad attempts at protecting this product were all for naught. they even had this little guy wrapped in a thin bubble wrap pouch in addition to it being in a bubble mailer. and it still died. thankfully, ipsycare responded to my email within about 2 hours--on a sunday night no less. and i went ahead and dumped the contents into a dish with some 91% isopryl [rubbing] alcohol and proceeded to re-pot this. after letting it dry for about a day, it came out really nice. it's very light, like a highlighter. i'm not so sure how well this would work as a split pan, half blush, half highlight. because combined, these aren't much of a blush. but it is super pretty!

4. nyx cosmetics lip suede in pink lust (.13oz--full size, ret. $7) -- oh yeah~ lookit this color!! LOL. no. color aside, the formula is pretty interesting. it doesn't have a scent to it, and it dries down kind of slowly. it does transfer very easily (it got on my teeth, repeatedly while swatching), and it stains extremely easy. it was the last swatch i applied to my arm, snapped several consecutive photos, and immediately wiped it off... in less than 2 minutes, there was a stain on my arm. yep. i'm not sure if this is an issue with this shade, but it was pretty patchy, and i could see brownish splotches where my natural lip color was showing through.
• likelihood to repurchase: no
5. manna kadar 3 in 1 blush highlighter eyeshadow in fantasy (.1oz--full size?, ret. $19) -- this is such a pretty shadow/highlighter/thingy for yo' face. it's a little stiffer than most highlighters--like more of a standard, non-creamy pressed eyeshadow. the color is super gorgeous!
• likelihood to repurchase: maybe
6. redeemed points: befine exfoliating cleanser (1oz--mini, ret. $24 for 4oz [$6]) -- i am all about the scrubs! i can't wait to give this a try! it does have a sweet scent to it, probably from the almond and brown sugar.

september 2015 ipsy bag

hi guys! it's september IPSY BAG* time!! (theme: face fashion) ~Lin-chan ^.~

here's my impressions:

1. nyx x ipsy eyeshadow trio (0.105oz--full size, ret. $6) -- i'm not so sure how i feel about the black, it's a bit chalky and i'm not huge into using something so dark; but the other two shades (particularly the middle one) are pretty nice.
• likelihood to repurchase: this trio is limited to the ipsy subscription; but maybe their love in rio sets.
2. thebalm put a lid on it eye primer (3.7ml--mini, ret. $18 for 11.8ml [$5.64]) -- i've always wanted to try this primer but never wanted to commit to buying a full size tube of something i couldn't buy locally and test out. testing this for my shadow swatches--it looks similar to urban decay's or too faced's but it's very wet and takes a bit longer to dry down.
• likelihood to repurchase: will update later
3. formula x for sephora nail color in ignite (4ml--mini, ret. $10.50 for 12ml [$3.50]) -- i really like how the color looks in the different lighting--bright red in sunlight, and oxblood in darker lighting. i actually already have a full-size of this polish, so i'll probably save this as a gift. see notd swatch below.

4. glamglow flashmud (.5oz--mini, ret. $69 for 1.7oz [$20.29]) -- try all of the glamglow! i'm excited to try this one out!
